We work with people who are experiencing neurological conditions, complex and catastrophic brain injuries and their support teams.

Bridge to Best provides the following services:

  • Comprehensive care need assessments
    • This can involve looking at how much care you might require and with what activities you require assistance in after an injury
  • Standardized assessments
    • FIM™ (Functional Independence Measure)
    • CANS (Care and Needs Scale)
    • Cognitive Assessments
  • Cognitive rehabilitation
    • Goal focused – we want to work on areas that are important to you
  • Equipment prescription / assistive devices / assistive technology
    • This can include wheelchairs, aids and equipment to make things easier
  • Community access retraining
    • Assistance with learning how to use a bus, or train to access the community
  • Return to work support following brain injury
    • The return to work process can be overwhelming. We can work with your support team to negotiate the return to work process).

About Bridge to Best

Bridge to Best was developed with a mission to provide exceptional services to adults who have found themselves in the face of significant barriers in their pursuit of living their best life. At Bridge to Best, we aspire to be “that bridge” to “your best”.

We have a special interest in working alongside clients who have had catastrophic/complex injuries (e.g. brain injuries) and neurological conditions.

Bridge to Best is based in Brisbane, Queensland. We are a mobile therapy service.  This means our sessions are carried out at home, at work or in the community, where it matters most to our clients.We are an energetic team of occupational therapists and therapy assistants who really enjoy working together. We strive to match our team members and their skills to the needs of our clients.

Services are provided in Brisbane and its surrounding regions.

Occupational Therapists (OT) in a very general sense, assist their clients to participate in their daily lives in a way that is meaningful. You might usually come across an OT after an illness, injury or accident where your ability to look after yourself has been affected.

At Bridge to Best, we work with people who are experiencing neurological conditions, complex and catastrophic brain injuries and their support teams.

Together we have a look at areas of performance that are difficult, while problem solving, trialling equipment, modifying the way we do things and providing rehabilitation support.  We write reports and home programs and we review true person-centred strategies to help you cross the bridge to be your best.

We love what we do, and ultimately our job is to guide our clients to become the best possible version of themselves, in their pursuit of maximising their abilities and independence.

During an initial visit, we gather as much information as possible about your journey and your goals. The intention of this visit is getting to know you and giving you an opportunity to get to know us. You will generally meet with an occupational therapist and a therapy assistant. An initial visit generally takes approximately 2 hours.

We provide services to client’s under insurance bodies such as the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ). We also provide services through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and to private clients.

Generally, services are billed to your insurer / plan manager on a pre-approved basis. If you are paying privately, an invoice will be issued following service delivery.

We recommend completing an initial assessment to ensure we can meet and gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation. No one person is the same and therefore needs are not the same.

We are happy to provide a report / summary following the assessment with recommendations of how Bridge to Best can help work towards your goals (fees apply).

What is a functional assessment?2021-11-21T00:26:37+00:00

Sometimes after an accident, illness or injury, you may require support to carry out your day to day activities (e.g. looking after yourself, getting out of the house etc). It is important to understand what your “support needs” are so that you can be provided with the amount of support that is right for you.

A functional assessment can be performed by an Occupational Therapist and takes into account how much support you may require over a 24-hour period and with which tasks you need support. This assessment is generally completed over a couple of sessions.

At Bridge to Best, we love to problem solve. Across all areas of life and all the things we do, our approach to work is not that different. If you are considering your options or need some support in deciding if you can return to work after a catastrophic injury, Bridge to Best can help you through that process.

This will generally involve working alongside your entire treating team, finding out all about your job/role and then negotiating whether a graded return to work would be reasonable. Medical clearance is required from your rehabilitation/medical team. Your OT will generally look at problem solving ways of building independence and skills in areas that might be challenging. It is generally completed in a very graded fashion and with the full support of your medical team, your employers and your OT.

At Bridge to Best, we love cooking too!!

Cooking is a real passion of ours. Generally, after an accident/injury – difficulties in the kitchen can be physical (loss of one side), cognitive (difficulty with thinking/problem solving/safety) or a combination of both!

We love nothing more than getting in the kitchen and having a look at the difficulty and then problem solving through all the options we have to get you back in the kitchen.

We have various aids and adapted pieces of equipment to try. If getting back to cooking is your passion, you have come to the right place!
